FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MAIDSTONE, June 1st 2011 – Today sees the launch of a new benefit for SEDA, South Eastern Discotheque Association Members in the form of a new Joint Cover Insurance.
In what has been a long, but necessary, consultative process SEDA have come up with a new industry standard level of Insurance cover for SEDA Members.
The Policy covers:
- £10 Million Public Liability
- £10 Million Products Liability (Dry Hire)
- £10 Million Employers Liability
Almost two years ago SEDA were the first DJ association to put Employers Liability Cover on the agenda. Chief coordinator and SEDA Chairman Paul Forsyth says:
It was important for us to make sure that our members were covered in this vulnerable, yet never before covered area. Many of our members did not realise that Public Liability would not protect them if an assistant, paid or unpaid was injured whilst carrying out instructions for the Member.
Furthermore SEDA is the only association that offers this comprehensive level of cover which is non-compulsory. Paul Forsyth added:
The feedback process has been protracted, but we felt that it was important to find out what the Membership wanted, not what we (the Committee) felt it needed.
Industry leaders Hencilla Canworth Limited have brokered the Policy.
Mike McCormack, Director at Hencilla Canworth Limited commented:
We are aware of the long and proud history that SEDA have in providing an excellent level of service and benefits to their members and we are delighted to have been able to assist in enhancing this even further with the introduction of Employers’, Public and Products Liability Insurance cover, which will automatically be provided to all Full Members from 1st June.
Paul Forsyth added:
It is great to see such a positive conclusion to what has been a lot of work for the SEDA team and I am thankful for the support and appreciation that our Membership has given us. My thanks also go to Mike McCormack at Hencilla Canworth Limited who has helped us through this process and who we are proud to have working with us.
Notes for editors
Based in the South East of England, SEDA was set up in 1974 to promote a professional approach to the art of the DJ. The South Eastern Discotheque Association welcomes all styles and types of DJ including mobile, club, video, radio and even bedroom DJs. We offer support and training to our members as well as helping to promote each business in general.
In 2010 SEDA introduced their “In The Community” scheme which aims to introduce young people into the DJ world. Successful events have already taken place involving the Scouts and Boys Brigade movements.
Anyone who books a SEDA approved DJ will know that they are getting a quality professional with high standards.
