About SEDA

DJ Marky MarcBased in the South East England, SEDA was set up in 1974 to promote a professional approach to the art of the DJ. The South Eastern Discotheque Association welcomes all styles and types of DJ, including mobile, club, video, radio and even bedroom DJs. We offer support and training to our members as well as helping to promote each business in general. SEDA can offer you confidence that when you book a SEDA approved DJ, you are getting a quality professional with high standards.

How it all started

The South Eastern Discotheque Association (or SEDA for short) was formed in 1974 by six like-minded DJs in the Tonbridge area of Kent, England with the main aim to promote a better professional approach to the art of mobile DJing. This was later extended to cover all DJs, Mobile, Resident, Radio and Bedroom Mixers.

DJ Loulou Over 30 years old

1999 was the silver anniversary of SEDA. In 2004, we celebrated 30 years as the oldest mobile disco & DJ association in the United Kingdom. As in the first 30 years, we will continue to actively improve the professional art of DJing in south east England proving that the quality and presentation of a SEDA DJ will always outshine the less reputable operator.

Setting Standards

SEDA publishes a code of practice and entry criteria which all members comply with. These standards ensure that members operate in a professional and safe manner. On the safety side, SEDA was the first DJ association in the UK to explore a law regarding electrical equipment Portable Appliance Testing (PAT testing). SEDA spotted this law, investigated its implications and recommended its members comply by regularly testing their disco equipment for electrical safety.

DJ Jonathan Dobson We welcome new members

SEDA currently has many members. It is not just mobile DJs who are welcome to join SEDA; club, radio and bedroom DJs are encouraged as all styles can help each other out with things like presentation technique, mixing, business practice, and equipment maintenance.

Regular Show Nights

SEDA is widely recognised as a major part of DJing by manufacturers and retailers alike. This is shown by their regular attendance at our Show Nights and some invite us to their showrooms for demonstrations and technical training. Our local retailers also offer discounts to SEDA members.
