Good Practice

The South Eastern Discotheque Associations has produced a set of guidelines that our Members follow as part of their membership agreement.

When Booking a SEDA Member for your event you can be assured that the following is in place.

All members that are operating a Mobile Disco, are insured for public liability to an amount not less than One Million Pounds.

That the equipment used by the DJ is reliable, safe, portable appliance tested (P.A.T.) regularly and set up in a safe and secure manner.

That the DJs presentation is both professional and of such standard that would bring repute to Disc Jockeys in general.

That the DJ has an adequate and appropriate supply of recorded music

That the DJ uses, reliable and safe transport.

That the DJ arrives on time to start the programme at the time agreed with the client.

That the DJ provides a programme of music together with any other entertainment as agreed with the client.

That the DJ meets the detailed standards set out in the requirements for membership of the South Eastern Discotheque Association.

That the DJ carries a fire extinguisher suitable for electrical fires and a 13 amp mains electric socket tester.

Code Of Practise

This is the Code of Practise that a SEDA Member Agrees to Follow

Clarity of Sound

  1. That the sound system is reproduced clearly.
  2. That the sound level is within the design limits of the system with due regard to the size of the venue and its acoustics.
  3. That the DJ can be understood.

Safety and General Tidiness

  1. That safe working practices are employed
  2. That the equipment is safe.
  3. That wires cables and leads are secure.
  4. That all wiring connections are in good repair, correctly connected and properly rated.
  5. That the disco and surrounding area are generally tidy.

Record Retrieval

  1. That the DJ is able to find any request from his/her collection within the space of 5 minutes.

Lighting

  1. That lighting should be suitable and adequate for the venue and secured where necessary.

Dress

  1. That the DJ is suitably dressed for the Event.

Administration

  1. That the DJ makes use of business cards, contracts, diary, telephone, e-mail etc.
  2. That the applicant is prepared to accept the South Eastern Discotheque Associations condition of being covered for PLI.
  3. That the DJ keeps accounts of all transactions relevant to his/her business.
