Kyle Clarke’s Inheritance Tracks
As ShowNights are on hold due to the Corona crisis, we took the inheritance track feature to Zoom Video online. So, on Tuesday 28th April 2020, it was Kyle Clarke’s turn to present his SEDA inheritance tracks. This is an opportunity for us all to hear another DJ’s influences in music. Here are Kyle’s choices in his words:
- First Song to play on repeat in living memory: We Built This City – Starship
- First Album Purchase: Billie Jean – MJ (Moon walker I think?)
- I Listen to a lot of film soundtracks: Imperial March from Star Wars
- I also still Listen to a lot of game soundtracks, particularly those I would call nostalgic: Act on Instinct – Frank Klepacki
- Started listening to a lot of controversial Rap music at secondary, one album was a huge game changer: Eminem – Public Service Announcement (Skit) (feat. Jeff Bass)
- Fond memory’s of Roller balding along hythe seafront to brockhill with my friends to this song and similar tracks: Heaven is a half pipe – OPM
- I Listened to a lot of classical music when studding for GCSE: Flight of the Valkyries
- Reggae: Bob Marley- Three Little Birds
- My personal and political views have been in part shaped by music: Land of confusion – Genesis
- A Family anthem (always played at any party with mum and sisters) and holds many good memories of parties and weddings, seen these guys live and have a signature from the drummer somewhere!?!?! Mustang Sally – Commitments
- While on the subject of family; we have always had a very close supportive family and I was lucky enough to learn to drive with my Grandad. I was listening to a lot of this band at the time and because he is sadly no longer with us, the by the way album will always hold a special place for me: Under the Bridge – Chilli Peppers
- Diabetes has all but killed me and it was very hard to cope with mentally at first when I got it at 19, 2 Songs that in part saved me from diabetes and gave the kick up the ass I needed were the following:
-
- Disturbed – The Infection
- Bon Jovi – Its My Life
- To Finish: Music that i guess i can attribute to why I am a DJ. My favourite music to dance to and lose control of my self for hours on end are without doubt electronic, dance, house and trance music, Late 80’s 90’s and some all be it not all modern electronic music (pendulum for example). If I could, I would quite happily play this stuff all night. My perfect gig would be one made entirely of these tracks and given the chance the inheritance list would go on all night and be filled with these tunes as I consider most music in this genre the reason I am now a DJ. I just don’t have a funky story to go with all these tracks:
- Eurythmics – Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)
- Chicane – Saltwater
- Sash! – Encore Une Fois
- Darude – Sandstorm
