Simon Field’s Inheritance Tracks

As ShowNights are on hold due to the Corona crisis, we took the inheritance track feature to Zoom Video online.  So, on Tuesday 12th May 2020, it was Simon Field’s turn to present his SEDA inheritance tracks.  This is an opportunity for us all to hear another DJ’s influences in music.  Here are Simon’s choices:
  • Rick James – give it to me; First trip to a record shop and brought vinyl with my own money

Honourable mentions:

    • First Tape – Wutang clan – gravel pit (HMV)
    • First CD – alien ant farm – smooth criminal (Woolworths)
  • Heatwave – Boogie Nights; Showed my dad this one thinking it was a hidden gem found out he was a friend of the band and definitely knew it…
  • Dan Hartman – instant replay; From DJing with VHS this is the most memorable music video
  • Tracy the cure and the cause – fish go deep (Dennis ferrer mix); Holding music (labelled holding track) had no idea what this was for a number of years.  This is for dad
  • Anita ward – ring my bell; Was on the radio when I held my first child
  • Earth, wind & fire – September (Phatts and small remix); A track that I was shown along my way and couldn’t pick 20 so I chose this one
  • Whitney Houston – I will always love you; My favourite song of all time
